Read about the recent Solag camp in Florida on Skiminvasion:

Sea of Adventure

A couple months back, I was contacted by the Newport Harbor Nautical Museum about their upcoming renovation and exhibit entitled "Sea of Adventure." Sea of Adventure is a journey into the past, present and future of nautical exploration. The installations engage the visitor through stories and experiences that encourage exploration and discovery. I was fortunate enough to share my story as it relates to the ocean as a skimboarder and am featured in this exhibit. It's an honor to be part of this project and yet strangely weird to see a life sized cardboard cut out of myself in the exhibit. Nevertheless, it displays skimboarding in a positive light and as a part of Newport's culture. The exhibit was revealed on June 18th at it's private donor reception and is now available for public viewing.

If you are ever in the area, I recommend stopping by the Nautical Museum to see how skimboarding has become a permanent fixture in the Newport Beach lifestyle. The museum is located bayside of the Balboa Pier where the 'fun zone' is.

2 Days Til the GrAMmys

Glide into summer with skim school

Tampa, Florida's Fox news came to the Madeira Camp today interviewing Paulo and some of the campers. It was shown on Florida TV today at 5:45pm. Here's a brief description of what they had to say.

It's like any board sport: skate boarding, wake boarding, surf boarding -- but it's different. Kids these days are "stoked" over skim boarding. This sport really catches on this summer on the Gulf beaches. Surf shops offer rentals, lessons, even camps.
